The M91/59 carbine is cut down from an M91/30, or in rare cases an M91, and most closely resembles an M38. The majority of M91/59s are from later round receiver M91/30 production, but hexagonal ones are known. The easiest way to recognize an M91/59 is the rear sight which is the longer M91/30 type with all graduations above 10 milled off the leaf. The M91/59 was not issued with a bayonet and will not accept the M91/30 bayonet due to it's heavier front sight base.

Features |
The features of M91/59 stocks vary since they are cut down from M91/30 stocks. It is not unusual to find a mixture of sling slot escutcheons or handguard end caps since the front ones were removed when the stock was cut. Some M91/59s are found in M44 stocks, but this is atypical. |
