Finland acquired many M91s when it declared independence from Russia, as
well as during the 1920s and 1930s from other countries which had received them from
Russia during WWI either through aid, purchase, or capture. Among these were U. S.
made rifles from Remington and New England Westinghouse. While it is not unusual to
find Finnish marks or features on U. S. M91s, it is unusual to find them in the condition
of this example. Many were rebuilt and repaired over the years after suffereing hard
use in WWI, the Winter War, and the Continuation War. Somehow this rifle survived
with all it's matching parts intact, including the cocking knob. The Remington
cartouche is still visible on the right side of the stock.
